Jennie becomes the first member of YG Entertainment’s newest girl group, the first in seven years since 2NE1. On August 8, 2016, she debuted as A member of Blackpink, along with Kim Ji-soo, Roseanne Park, and Lalisa Manobal, releasing their singles album Square One, as well as the double-A-side single “Boombayah” . According to band member Jisoo, Jennie is responsible for the general duties and decision-making of the band. Jennie spoke to V Live about her six years as a trainee and said that once a month she performs group, dance and solo songs for record company ceos, producers and artists to observe and assess their progress in training. She also recalled preparing costumes and songs, making musical accompaniments and practicing dancing.
